Health is the greatest gain, contentment is the best wealth and nirvana, the supreme Bliss - said Lord Buddha.

God initially gave good health to everybody, may be with some exceptions but we played with it. We started to adulterate it with Junk food, drinks and smoking etc.The result, we know, the healthy people start deteriorating in health and got surrounded by various ailments

The human health can, very easily be compared to a brand new car. The car will give efficient service if unlead gas is put in it. If one starts putting diesel or adulterated gas in the car, the effiency of the car will markedly decrease. However, the efficiency of the car could be maintained by pure gas and regular washing and maintenance.

While advising about doing regular exercise for maintaining good health, some of the people don’t hesitate to say that they don’t get time to do exercise. They would have loved to do it but………..This statement does not give any energy to them. If you want to attain good health you have to do certain things which you may not then like. You may have to undertake morning walk, for at least half an hour. After some time the walk may last till you sweat. This is supreme. This walk will burn adequate amount of calories and give you strength and energy.

Once in January, 2003, I went to Sunny Brook Hospital in Toronto to see my ailing mother, I came across one Chinese gentleman, who, in course of conversation, mentioned that he was 91 years old, and he had come to the hospital to see his ailing wife, who was 85 years old. The man stood erect, with glowing face, full of energy. I, out of curiosity, enquired from him the secret of his good health. He said, “I take a moderate diet and take one hour morning walk and one hour evening walk.” That‘s all. If he can keep good health at 91 year’s age, why can’t we do it at our present age?

There are some yogic exercises which can keep our eye sight normal or at least prevent from abrupt detioration, keep our hearing ability normal, and keep us healthy.

The yogic exercises are very effective for keeping oneself healthy. For seniors, it is advised that, if they want to start exercise for the first time they should seek clearance from their family physician and then start yogic exercise under an experienced yoga instructor.
