What is the advantage of chanting of mantra?

In reply to a question put by a disciple, Guru Maharajji replied,"An alive mantra given by a Sat Guru to a willing aspirant is highly
beneficial if he/she listens to it.It helps in attaining Self-Realization and gaining miraculous powers.

Guru Maharajji further said," In USA at Keshav Asharam International centre,Warrenton-22186,once an interesting problem was
brought to him.A Guru gave "OM" mantra to a person and he was asked to chant the mantra for an hour.He chanted the mantra for an hour.His sonography of brain was taken before he started the chanting of mantra and it was taken thereafter as well.Both time the results showed disturbed position of brain. Similarly the experiment of "OM" mantra was performed on another person and his sonography was taken before he started chanting of manrta and after his chanting of mantra for an hour .In this case his previous condition indicated disturbed position but the later position indicated 'peace of mind. They wanted a clarification from me."
Guru Maharajji further explained to them that an alive mantra given by a Sat Guru is always effective. On the other hand,a mantra given by a Guru involved in materialism does not show any result.Thus in the first case there remained disturbed conditionj.This may be due to the reason either the mantra was given by not a Sat Guru or it did not suite the soul of the recipient ......In the second case,the mantra appears to be given by a Sat Guru which suited the recipient.
